Biography

Elfonía was a Mexican experimental rock band founded in 2001 by Alejandro Millán and Marcela Bovio, following their departure from Hydra. The group initially consisted of Millán on keyboards and rhythm guitar, and Bovio on vocals and violin. In 2003, the lineup expanded to include Roberto Quintanilla on lead guitar, Pablo González on bass guitar, Javier Garagarza on drums, and Jose Alberto Vidal Rodríguez on vocals for a major music festival in Monterrey. That same year, Elfonía independently released their self-titled debut album Elfonía, marking their breakthrough into mainstream music. In November 2003, Bovio was invited by Arjen Anthony Lucassen to perform vocals on Ayreon's album The Human Equation. Two years later, the band released their second studio album, This Sonic Landscape, a fusion of progressive rock, jazz, ambient music, and goth rock. Following this release, Elfonía embarked on a successful tour across Mexico. The band disbanded in December 2006.
