She began her career as a musical theatre actress in 1990, performing in the Tony Award-nominated Metro, which was also shown on Broadway. Górniak's breakthrough moment came in 1994 when she represented Poland in the Eurovision Song Contest with "To nie ja" ("It's Not Me"), finishing as a runner-up, which remains Poland's best result at the competition. This success launched her decades-long career as a pop singer both nationally and internationally. She signed with EMI International in 1996 and released her first English-language album Edyta Górniak in November 1997. The album featured collaborations with notable songwriters and included the single "One & One", which charted on the European Radio Top 50. In March 2003, she released the single "Impossible", followed by My in February 2012, and My Favourite Winter in August 2024. Górniak has also received the Bronze Medal for Merit to Culture – Gloria Artis for her contributions to the arts.
