The core of the group Draumir was songwriter Jo Inge Johansen Frøytlog. Draumir released their debut EP Frozen Moments/Seeking My Distance in 2005 and their self-titled album later that year. The band gained significant attention when they were nominated for the Spellemannprisen, Norway's equivalent of the Grammy Awards, as the debut of the year in 2006. Following a well-received performance at the by:Larm festival in 2006, Draumir signed with Universal Music Norway and released their second album The Island in 2007. The band disbanded later that year.
