Biography
Don Moen, born Donald James Moen in Minneapolis, Minnesota, on June 29, 1950, is a Christian songwriter, musician and performer. He grew up in Two Harbors and attended Oral Roberts University in Tulsa, Oklahoma, a private evangelical university. After shadowing musician Pastor Terry Law for ten years since the late 1970s, playing trombone and guitar, he also began writing and arranging his own song lyrics. In 1984, Don Moen was hired as a songwriter by Integrity Incorporated, for whom he worked for twenty years, becoming president of its music label, Integrity Label Group, before setting up his own distribution company at the end of 2007. As a singer, he has enjoyed success in the style of worship faithful to biblical texts through a multitude of albums released since 1986. His first opus, Give Thanks, sold hundreds of thousands of copies, and was a best-seller for Integrity Music and Hosanna! Music label, and a favorite with the worship music public. After eleven albums for Hosanna! Music, his name appears for the first time in 1992 on the album Worship with Don Moen. After a tour of Asia, the live album The Mercy Seat, recorded at a concert in Singapore, was released in 1999, while Heal Our Land, recorded in South Korea, came out in 2000. In 2008, after leaving Integrity Music, the artist set up his own label, Don Moen Records, which released the album Uncharted Territory in 2011. Winner of five Dove Awards between 1992 and 1999, Don Moen received a Global Lifetime Achievement Award from the Gospel Music Association in 2015.
