Singer, songwriter, and Youth Pastor Mark Hall formed the first line-up of Christian soft rock band Casting Crowns in Daytona Beach, Florida in 1999 before relocating to McDonough, Georgia. The band released two independent self-produced albums locally as a means of involving the local youth population in the church. One of the tracks was heard by Sawyer Brown's lead singer Mark Miller, who signed them to his Beach Street Records label. This resulted in the 2003 release of their self-titled album which produced âVoice of Truthâ, a Number 1 single in the US. More hits followed from their 2005 album Lifesong, which spent nine weeks at the top of the US charts and produced the chart-topping single âPraise You In This Stormâ. The group maintained a similar level of success with the 2007 album The Altar & the Door and, while breaking attendance records on a US tour, they also had another American Number 1 single with âEast to Westâ. In 2008, Casting Crowns released a Christmas album and had another Number 1 with âI Heard the Bells on Christmas Dayâ. The groupâs 2009 album Until the Whole World Hears cemented the Casting Crowns' position as Christian rock's most successful band. Their series of Number 1 albums continued with Come to the Well (2011), Thrive (2014), and The Very Next Thing (2016). Casting Crowns has also released several best-selling live albums and collections over the course of their career. In 2018, they released the album Only Jesus, which was followed four years later by the Number 3 charting release Healer.
