Biography

Djénéba Seck Maliba, known professionally as Djénéba Seck, was born in 1970 in Bamako, Mali. She is a Malian singer and songwriter. Raised by a state-certified nurse father and a midwife mother, her early life laid the foundation for her future musical endeavors. Djénéba Seck's music career began with notable albums such as Kankéléntiguya (1991) and Les Aigles (CAN 94) (1993). Her breakthrough came in 2006 when she won a Tamani d'or at the 3rd edition of the Trophées de la musique au Mali. Throughout her career, Seck released several albums including Kounkanko kononni (1996), Gorobiné (1997), Djourou (2000), Aw Bissimila (2002), and Tigné (2005). Her later works include Manghoya Foura (2012).
