Biography

Abana Ba Nasery was a musical group from Bunyore, Western Province, Kenya. The group consisted of Shem Tube on vocals and guitar, Justo Osala on guitar, and Enos Okola on percussion. Abana Ba Nasery emerged in the 1960s and gained prominence during that decade and into the 1970s. In 1989, their songs from the 1960s and early 1970s were compiled and released internationally by Globe Style as Classic Acoustic Recordings from Western Kenya. The group reformed in 1991 and embarked on a European tour, during which they recorded their album, !Nursery Boys Go Ahead!, released in 1992. Following the reunion, Shem Tube did not actively pursue his musical career but continued to give rare performances as of 2009.
