The US metal band Disturbed was founded in 1994 in Chicago, Illinois, under the name Brawl. A short time later, the band changed its name to Disturbed. It currently consists of singer David Draiman, guitarist Dan Donegan, bassist John Moyer and drummer Mike Wengren. their debut album The Sickness was released in 2000. The first single "Down With the Sickness" gave them their breakthrough in the metal scene and became a floor-filler in heavy clubs around the globe. As the band emphasized a certain groove despite their heaviness, they were often equated with the nu metal genre and bands such as Slipknot or Korn at the beginning of their career due to the zeitgeist. However, the second album Believe (2002) subsequently emphasized their style as a mix of classic heavy metal and hard rock elements. With the albums Ten Thousand Fists (2005), Indestructable (2008) and Asylum (2010), they climbed steadily higher in the charts in Germany, Austria and Switzerland and entered the mainstream with their cover version of the Simon & Garfunkel song "The Sound of Silence" (2015) at the latest. It became a number 1 hit in Austria and reached number 2 in the German charts. With the accompanying album Immortalized (2015), Disturbed reached number 1 in the album charts in the USA for the fifth time in a row and with their seventh album Evolution (2018), they once again reached the top 5 in Germany, Austria and Switzerland. The follow-up Divisive also became an international top 10 success in 2022.
