Biography

Diana Gosper (born 8 April 1976 in Newcastle, Australia) is an Australian alternative rock singer‑songwriter known professionally as Diana Anaid. Growing up in a nomadic, communal lifestyle after her mother’s death, she learned guitar in her teens and performed in folk‑blues venues around Lismore and Nimbin. Her breakthrough came with the single "I Go Off" (1997), which peaked at Number 35 on the ARIA Singles Chart and received high rotation on Triple J, leading to a nomination for Best New Talent at the 1998 ARIA Music Awards. Diana Anaid’s debut album Diana ah Naid (1997) was followed by I Don’t Think I’m Pregnant (1999), Beautiful Obscene (2004), Diana Anaid (2010), and My Queen (2017). Notable tracks include "Perfect Family" (1999), "Last Thing" (2004), and "Can't Apologise" (2017). She released a live album, Live at Bush Theatre (2007), and has collaborated with artists such as Monique Brumby and the producer Paul Palmer. Her work earned multiple ARIA nominations, a 2000 nomination for Best Female Artist, and a 2011 Independent Music Award nomination for "Charity". Diana Anaid’s career reflects sustained contributions to Australian alternative rock, with chart presence, critical recognition, and a dedicated touring history across Australia and New Zealand.
