Biography

Connecting the dots between blues-tinged garage rock and R&B-inflected indie pop, Diamante Eléctrico is a Colombian rock band formed in Bogotá in 2012. The trio, consisting of Juan Galeano on vocals and bass, Daniel Álvarez on guitar, and Andee Zeta on drums, kicked off their career with a successful fundraising campaign, raising over $5,000 for their debut album in 2013. This self-titled release quickly garnered attention, earning them the Best Rock Group title at the SHOCK Awards that same year. Their momentum continued with the accolade of Breakthrough Iberoamerican Artist by POTQ Magazine in 2014. 2015 marked another milestone with their second album B, recorded in Bogotá and mastered in Los Angeles. This album clinched the Best Rock Album at the 16th Annual Latin Grammy Awards, and the track "Todo Va a Arder" snagged a nomination for Best Rock Song. Their third full-length album, La Gran Oscilación, arrived in 2016, accompanied by a revealing documentary, Después de la Espera. This album again won Best Rock Album at the Latin Grammys, with the single "Déjala Rodar" winning Best Rock Song. 2017 saw Diamante Eléctrico making their live debut at the prestigious Coachella Festival. The following year, their album Buitres was recorded in Bogotá and mixed in New York's Electric Lady Studios. 2019 brought Buitres & Co., featuring new versions of songs from Buitres with various guest artists. In 2021, amidst the COVID-19 pandemic, the band released Mira Lo Que Me Hiciste Hacer. This album, a tribute to their late engineer Daniel Bustos, earned them their first Grammy nomination for Best Latin Rock or Alternative Album and a nomination for Best Pop/Rock Album at the Latin Grammys. It wasn't until 2023 that the band returned with their sixth studio outing Leche de Tigre, whose title track won Best Rock Song at the Latin Grammy Awards.
