Delegation is a British soul music group formed in Birmingham, England, in 1975. The band consists of Ricky Bailey, Len Coley, and Roddy Harris. Delegation's initial breakthrough came with the release of their first single "Where Is the Love (We Used to Know)" in 1976, which reached number 22 on the UK charts. Their debut album The Promise of Love was released in 1977 and charted on the US Billboard 200. That same year, Delegation released their second single "You've Been Doing Me Wrong", which peaked at number 49 in the UK. The band's lineup changed over time, with Bruce Dunbar replacing Len Coley in 1978 and Ray Patterson taking Roddy Harris' place in 1980. In 1979, Delegation released their second album Eau de vie, which included international hits such as "Heartache #9" and "Put a Little Love on Me". The latter reached number 32 in Germany's single hit parade in 1980. Throughout the early 1980s, Delegation continued to release albums including Delegation (1980), Delegation II (1981), and Deuces High (1982). The band disbanded in 1996 after releasing their final album Encore. Delegation's music has been sampled by various artists, notably Phats & Small for "Tonite" (2000) and Alcazar for "Start the Fire" (2004).
