Biography
Defeater, an American melodic hardcore band from Boston, Massachusetts, was formed in 2008. The group consisted of Derek Archambault on vocals and guitars, Mike Poulin on bass, Jake Woodruff on guitar, Joe Longobardi on drums, and Jay Maas on guitar and vocals. Their debut album, Travels, was released via Topshelf Records in 2008, later reissued by Bridge 9 Records. The band's subsequent releases included the EP Lost Ground (2009) and the full-length albums Empty Days & Sleepless Nights (2011), Letters Home (2013), which debuted at number 72 on the Billboard Top 200 chart, and Abandoned (2015). Defeater toured extensively with notable acts such as La Dispute, Comeback Kid, and August Burns Red. In October 2015, Jay Maas left the band due to personal differences. The group released their self-titled album in 2019 on Epitaph Records.
