Dear Silas is an American rapper and singer from Jackson, Mississippi. Born Silas Stapleton III in 1986, he began playing the piano at age eight and the trumpet at age 11. While attending high school, he began freestyling and recorded his first mixtape. He gained national recognition in 2016 for the single âGullah Gullah Islandâ. His debut studio album The Day I Died appeared in 2016. In 2018, Dear Silas signed a recording deal with RCA Records which re-released his second album The Last Cherry Blossom in 2019. The track âSkrr Skrrâ reached Number 1 on the Spotify viral chart in 2018, and entered the top 40 on the iTunes Hip-Hop/Rap chart. His subsequent studio albums included Plus Ultra (2020) and It's Giving SELF LOVE! (2022).
