Biography

An active blues bassist on the New York scene, Dean Zucchero cut his teeth in clubs such as CBGB's, The Bitter End, Dan Lynch Blues Bar, Bottom Line and Manny's Carwash, alongside the likes of Major Domo, Popa Chubby and Frankie Paris. He then toured Europe for nine years, with bands The Healers and Sugar Pie & the Candymen, before returning to the U.S. in 2013. He settled in Louisiana, in New Orleans, where he frequented the local scene, including Little Freddie King and Johnny Sansone, and worked with Ghalia Volt on two of his albums. After organizing acoustic concerts during the Covid-19 pandemic, Dean Zucchero records his first album, in which he surrounds himself for the occasion with a band and guest guitarists. The result, Electric Church for the Spiritually Misguided, was released in 2023, featuring Johnny Rawls, Bruce Barnes, Johnny Burgin, Jason Ricci and Jeremy Joyce. In the same spirit, Saint for the Sinners (2025) was released two years later, featuring Albert Castiglia, Mike Zito, Sean Riley, John Németh and Tiffany Pollack, Glen David Andrews and Jimmy Vivino. The album reaches #8 on the Billboard blues charts.
