Biography

Born in St. Louis, Missouri, on November 19, 1970, American blue guitarist Mike Zito made a name for himself on the local scene before signing with Eclecto Groove Records, which released the albums Today (2008) and Pearl River (2009), whose title track won a Blues Music Award. After a third album for the label, Greyhound (2011), he formed the supergroup Royal Southern Brotherhood with Cyril Neville, Devon Allman, Charlie Wooton and Yonrico Scott. This group will record four studio albums up to 2016, with a further three coming from touring. At the same time, Mike Zito surrounds himself with other musicians to form his own band The Wheel, which records Gone to Texas (2013) and Keep Coming Back (2015) and sums up a tour in Songs from the Road (2014). Thereafter, Mike Zito continues solo with Make Blues Not War (2016), First Class Life (2018), Rock'n'Roll: A Tribute to Chuck Berry (2019) and Quarantine Blues (2019). He tours with Bernard Allison and Vanja Sky, resulting in the release of Blues Caravan 2018, before the comeback album after the Covid-19 pandemic, Resurrection (2021), followed by collaboration with Albet Castiglia on Blood Brothers (2023) and Live in Canada (2023). In 2024, Life Is Hard is released, reaching number 9 in the blues charts.
