Biography
Dea Matrona, an Irish rock band based in Belfast, was formed in 2018 by Orláith Forsythe and Mollie McGinn. They began busking together before transitioning to playing gigs as a cover band. In 2019, Dea Matrona released their debut EP Away from the Tide. The following year, they gained significant online attention with a viral video of their performance of "Oh Well" by Fleetwood Mac. This led to an appearance on The Late Late Show and performances at major festivals such as Reading & Leeds and Belsonic. In 2024, Dea Matrona released their debut album For Your Sins, which reached Number 1 on the UK Independent Album Breakers Chart and the top 20 in The Scottish Album Chart. They have supported notable artists including KALEO, Foo Fighters guitarist Chris Shiflett, Sheryl Crow, Shania Twain, Sting, Bryan Adams, and The Darkness. Following the release of the EP For Your Sins: Acoustic Sessions in 2024, the duo returned in 2026 with their second full-length, Hate That I Care.
