Dave Gunning, born in Pictou County, Nova Scotia, Canada, is a folk singer-songwriter known for his storytelling and musical impressions. His career was significantly influenced by witnessing a 1981 concert featuring John Allan Cameron and Stan Rogers. Gunning released his debut album Lost Tracks in 1996, followed by Caught Between Shadows in 2000. Throughout his career, he released fourteen albums, including collaborations such as Two with J.P. Cormier. Notable works included "A Game Goin' On" from the album No More Pennies. The song won the Great Canadian Song Quest in 2014. He received two Canadian Folk Music Awards, four Music Nova Scotia Awards, and ten East Coast Music Awards. His contributions to folk music were recognized with a Juno Award nomination for Roots & Traditional Solo Album of the Year in 2012.
