Biography

Raymond George Materick, born on August 19, 1946, in Brantford, Ontario, is a Canadian singer-songwriter. His recording career began in 1972 with the release of Sidestreets on Kanata Records. Materick's major breakthrough came with the 1974 album Neon Rain, released on Warner Bros./Asylum Records, which featured the hit single "Linda Put the Coffee On", peaking at number 21 in Canada. Throughout the 1970s, he released several albums including Best Friend Overnight (1975), and Fever in Rio (1978). Materick's career saw a hiatus during the 1980s but he returned to music in 2000. Notable later releases include Life & Times (2003) and collaborations with Keon Crosswell and Dan Kolthof under the band name Peace On Earth. In 2012, Materick was honored by "Honouring Our Own," an organization recognizing Canadian musicians for their lifelong contributions to music.
