Cyrus Villanueva, born on June 20, 1996, in Galiwin'ku, Northern Territory, Australia, is a singer known for his contributions to Middle of the Road and Pop music genres. Inspired by his father, a retired professional entertainer, Villanueva began his musical journey performing at local venues while studying graphic design at the University of Wollongong. Villanueva's breakthrough came in 2015 when he won the seventh season of The X Factor Australia. His victory led to a recording contract with Sony Music Australia and the release of his debut single "Stone co-produced by TMS, Bobby Andonov, and co-written by Sean Douglas. His self-titled debut album Cyrus was released on December 9, 2015, featuring studio recordings of selected songs from the competition. Between 2016 and 2018, Villanueva released five singles with Sony Music, including "Keep Talking" (February 12, 2016). Following the release of "Blah" in September 2018, he left the label to pursue an independent career. In July 2020, he released his first single as an independent artist, "I'm Sorry". On November 5, 2021, Villanueva released the EP Had, Lost, marking a new phase in his musical journey where he took full creative control.
