Biography

Crazyhead, an English garage punk band from Leicester, was formed in 1986. The group consisted of Kevin Bayliss (Kev Reverb) on guitar and keyboards, Ian R. Anderson (Anderson) on vocals, Robert Morris (Vom) on drums, and Dr. Alex Peach (Porkbeast) on bass. In the same year they were formed, Crazyhead signed to Food Records and released their debut single "What Gives You The Idea That You're So Amazing, Baby?", which reached number 2 in the UK Indie Chart in March 1987. They followed this with extensive touring, supporting acts like The Cult and Julian Cope, and playing at the Glastonbury Festival. Their second single "Baby Turpentine" also charted well, reaching number 4 in the Indie Chart. In mid-1988, their third single "Time Has Taken Its Toll on You" reached number 65 in the UK Singles Chart. The band's debut album Desert Orchid was released in October 1988, followed by tours supporting Iggy Pop and appearances at major festivals like Reading. In 1989, they became one of the first Western bands to tour post-Nicolae Ceaușescu Romania and played at the Namibian Independence Day concert. Despite being dropped by Food Records in 1989, Crazyhead continued with releases on Revolver Records and sporadic live appearances throughout the 1990s. The band disbanded in December 2000 but reformed in 2017 for a series of shows, including performances at Indie Daze 4 festival and Bearded Theory Festival.
