Andreea Georgiana BÄlan, born on June 23, 1984, in PloieÈti, Romania, is a Romanian singer. She began performing locally at age ten and gained attention from Mihai Constantinescu. In 1997, she qualified for the Romanian Eurovision Song Contest pre-selection but was disqualified due to age restrictions. The following year, BÄlan released her debut album AmeÈiÈi de fum. In late 1998, she formed the duo Andrè with Andreea Antonescu, releasing several successful albums and singles, including "Un univers mai liniÈtit" and "LiberÄ la mare." The duo disbanded in 2001. BÄlan then embarked on a solo career, releasing her first album Te joci cu mine in June 2001. She followed with LiberÄ din nou (2003), AÈa sunt eu! (2004), and AndreeaB (2006). In 2009, she released SuperWoman, which featured a mix of Samba, Rock 'n' Roll, and Pop influences.
