Company of Thieves, an American indie rock band from Chicago, Illinois, was founded in 2007 by Genevieve Schatz and Marc Walloch. Their debut album, Ordinary Riches, released in 2007, marked their breakthrough moment, charting at number 5 on Billboard's Heatseekers Chart. The band was featured as a streaming service's Discovery Download for "Oscar Wilde" and won the 2007 New York Songwriters Circle contest with the same song. Company of Thieves signed with Wind-up Records and digitally re-released Ordinary Riches in 2009. They appeared on Live from Daryl's House and Last Call with Carson Daly. Their second album, Running from a Gamble, was released in 2011, preceded by the lead single "Death of Communication". The band went through multiple lineup changes before announcing their hiatus in January 2014. Company of Thieves reunited in May 2017 and released the single "Treasure" in 2018.
