Biography
Cécile Schott, known professionally as Colleen, was born in 1976 in Montargis, France. She initially focused on literature before picking up a guitar in high school and joining a noise pop group. Schott began her music career under the name Colleen in 2001 after receiving ACID Pro music production software from a friend. Her self-titled debut album was self-released in 2002. She followed this with Everyone Alive Wants Answers in 2003, which featured heavily modified looped samples and garnered critical acclaim. In 2005, she released The Golden Morning Breaks, which shifted to natural, non-synthetic sounds. Schott's first album with lyrics, The Weighing of the Heart, was released in 2013. Subsequent albums include Captain Of None (2015) and A Flame My Love, A Frequency (2017).
