Born in Northfield, Illinois on July 10, 1990, Cody Fry is a pop and rock singer-songwriter and producer who first came to prominence in 2021 when his song âI Hear a Symphonyâ became a viral sensation on social media. Born the son of commercial jingle composer Gary Fry, Cody Fry was writing and recording his own songs when he was in his teens. He studied music at Belmont University in Nashville, Tennessee and graduated in 2012, the same year he released his debut album, audio:cinema. After spending several years as a sideman for other artists, he released his sophomore album, Keswick, in 2014. Cody Fry successfully auditioned for the 14th season of American Idol and while he didnât make the Top 20 finalists on the show, he attracted a fanbase and released his third album, Flying, in 2017. The album found him adding full orchestration to his self-penned material. He issued the holiday-themed album Christmas Music: The Complete Collection in 2019 and followed that with Pictures of Mountains in 2021. In 2021, his song âI Hear a Symphonyâ became a viral sensation and he issued the mini album Symphony Sessions in 2022. Cody Fryâs cover of The Beatlesâ âEleanor Rigbyâ earned him a Grammy nomination for Best Arrangement, Instrumental and Vocals. With the massive success of âI Hear a Symphony,â Cody Fryâs next project, Symphonic (2023), contained the hit single alongside many more of his recordings that incorporated a heavy symphonic presence.
