Musician Thomas Hübner, known as Clueso, was born in Erfurt on April 9, 1980. After leaving school, he trained as a hairdresser, but dropped out to concentrate fully on his music career. His debut album Text und Ton failed to enter the charts in 2001, but he received a gold record in Germany for his second album Gute Musik (2004). The single "Kein Bock Zu Geh'n" became his first song in the singles charts. Clueso finally arrived in the mainstream in 2006 with the album Weit Weg and the single "Chicago". His style had developed from hip hop and reggae to more pop but sophisticated compositions. With "Keinen Zentimeter" from the album So Sehr Dabei (2008), he achieved 15th place in the German charts, his most successful single to date, and the song "Gewinner" was awarded a 1Live crown for "Best Single". In 2011, he was awarded platinum twice. Once for his fifth album An Und Für Sich and also for the reinterpretation of "Cello" with Udo Lindenberg at his MTV Unplugged show. After the release of his first number 1 album Stadtrandlichter (2014), Clueso parted ways with his previous band and completely reassembled it. The album Neuanfang (2016) then returned to number 1 in the charts and in the same year he won the 1Live crown for "Best Artist" for the fifth time. The 2018 album Handgepäck I also made it to the top of the charts in Germany. His ninth longplayer with the simple title Album reached number 2 in the German charts and, like the three albums before it, made it into the top 20 in Austria and Switzerland. With his next album, Deja vu 1/2, Clueso returns to the top of the German charts in February 2026.
