Biography

Cho Kyu-chan (born January 13, 1971, in Seoul, South Korea) is a renowned South Korean singer-songwriter and composer, widely recognized as a significant figure in Korean popular music. He debuted in 1990 as part of the project group Saebarami Oneun Geuneul and rose to prominence after winning the Gold Prize at the 1st Yoo Jae-ha Music Contest in 1989 with his original song “Rainbow.” Throughout his career, Cho has released numerous acclaimed albums, starting with his 1993 debut Since 1993 and most recently his 10th album Jo Gyu-chan 10 1st Half in 2024. After a brief hiatus following his 9th album in 2010, he returned to the music scene in 2013. He has also released a steady stream of digital singles since 2018 and dropped a new single, "C.F," in 2025. In addition to performing, Cho is a professor of applied music at Woosong Information College and holds a master’s degree in Jazz Studies from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. He married singer-musical actress Hey in 2005. Coming from a musical family, his father was composer Na Hwa-rang, and his brothers Jo Gyu-chun and Jo Gyu-man are also musicians.
