Biography

Joo Young-hoon (born November 6, 1969) is a celebrated South Korean singer, songwriter, and television personality known for his impact on the music industry since the 1990s. Beginning his career as a songwriter, Joo gained fame for crafting hit songs for major K-pop artists such as Uhm Jung-hwa, Turbo, and Koyote. His compositions contributed to shaping the sound of Korean pop music during this era, and his work remains iconic within the industry. In 1997, Joo transitioned into a singing career with his debut album Ballad, followed by Nostalgia in 2000 and Love Concerto in 2001. Nostalgia reached notable success, peaking at number 9 on Korean music charts and selling over 89,000 copies, reflecting his broad appeal as both a singer and songwriter. Beyond music, Joo became a popular television personality. In 2021, he made a cameo in the KBS2 drama Imitation and, in 2022, served as a judge on the variety show Fantastic Family. He further showcased his versatility by becoming a regular member on Big Brother Era in 2023.
