Kim Min-jong, born on 23 March 1971 in Seoul, is a South Korean singer and actor. He began his career in Korean film and television in the 1990s as a matinee idol and in 1992 kicked off his music career by forming duo The Blue with fellow actor Son Ji-chang. They debuted with the album New Release, which included popular ballads and dance music, and went on to produce many chart-toppers. Around the same time, Kim Min-jong pursued a successful solo singing career, but controversy arose over the similarity of his 1996 song "Gwi cheon do ae" to the Japanese song "Summer Dream", leading Kim Min-jong to announce his retirement. He made a comeback two years later and went on to release albums such as You're My Life in 2001. The Blue reunited in 2009 and released a four-song single album, marking their return to the K-pop scene. Throughout his career, Kim Min-jong has also appeared in numerous films and television series, including notable roles in Mrs. Cop (2015) and Mrs. Cop 2 (2016).
