Biography

Charles Wesley Godwin (born May 18, 1993, in Morgantown, West Virginia) is an American country-folk singer-songwriter whose music is closely tied to Appalachian storytelling, family history and life in West Virginia. He began writing songs while studying at West Virginia University, then built his early reputation through regional touring before releasing his debut album Seneca in 2019. The album introduced songs such as “Hardwood Floors” and “Seneca Creek”, followed in 2021 by How the Mighty Fall, which expanded his sound with tracks including “Lyin’ Low”, “Needle Fall Down” and “Temporary Town”. In 2022, Charles Wesley Godwin appeared on Zach Bryan’s “Jamie”, and in 2023 he released Family Ties through Big Loud Records, a 19-song album featuring “All Again”, “Cue Country Roads” and “Another Leaf”. In 2024, he supported Luke Combs on stadium dates, played major festivals including Stagecoach and Bonnaroo, and received an Americana Honors & Awards nomination for Emerging Act of the Year. Charles Wesley Godwin followed in 2025 with the EP Lonely Mountain Town, featuring ERNEST on “Dead to Rights” and Scott Avett on “Hammer Down”. In 2026, he announced the album Christian Name and released “Better That Way” with Luke Combs.
