Biography
Stoney LaRue, born Stoney Larue Phillips in 1977 in Taft, Texas, is an American country music singer. Raised in Yanush/Buffalo Valley, Oklahoma, LaRue began playing country music at a young age and moved to Stillwater, Oklahoma, where he started performing in local bars. He befriended Jason Boland and Cody Canada, leading to late-night jam sessions that influenced his early career. LaRue released his debut album Downtown in 2002 with The Organic Boogie Band. His follow-up, The Red Dirt Album, reached the Billboard sales charts upon its release in August 2005. In April 2007, he released his first live record, Live at Billy Bob's Texas. LaRue contributed backing vocals to Miranda Lambert's 2013 single "All Kinds of Kinds". He released the album Us Time in October 2015. LaRue was inducted into the Oklahoma Music Hall of Fame in April 2025.
