Carol Bruce, born Shirley Levy on November 15, 1919, in Great Neck, New York, was an American actress and singer. She began her career as a singer, appearing in three short musical films starting in 1937. Her breakthrough came with the Broadway production of Louisiana Purchase (1940-1941), where she performed alongside William Gaxton and Vera Zorina. Bruce continued to perform on stage, notably in Show Boat (1946-1947) and Henry, Sweet Henry (1967). Her film debut as an actress was in Revolt at Sea (1941), followed by roles in American Gigolo (1980) and Planes, Trains, and Automobiles (1987). On television, she appeared in 29 series, including notable roles in Knots Landing and The Golden Girls. Bruce released several singles like "A Nightingale Sang in Berkeley Square" (1940) and "If I Feel This Way Tomorrow", as well as the album Thrill To The Fabulous Carol Bruce in 1957. She passed away on October 9, 2007, in Woodland Hills, California.
