Biography
Formed in 2010 in Los Angeles by former writers of commercial jingles Ryan Merchant and Sebu Simonian, Capital Cities play electronic dance music on recordings and videos and in concert at international festivals joined by Manny Quintero on bass, Spencer Ludwig on trumpet, Nick Merwin on guitar and Channing Holmes on drums. They have toured with acts including Jane's Addiction, Asher Roth, Gold Fields and Katy Perry. They released an eponymous EP in 2011 and their first album 'In a Tidal Wave of Mystery' in 2013. The album reached number 15 on Billboard's Alternative Albums Chart, number 23 on the Top Rock Albums Chart and number 66 on the Billboard 200. The single 'Safe and Sound' went to number two on the Mainstream Top 40 and Hot Rock Songs Charts, number eleven on the Adult Contemporary Songs Chart and was nominated as Best Music Video in the 2013 Grammy Awards. Their latest release is an EP titled 'Swimming Pool Summer'.
