British Lions were formed in 1977 in the United Kingdom by a collective of musicians including Morgan Fisher, John Fiddler, Dale Griffin, Ray Majors, and Pete Overend Watts, all of whom had previously played with groups such as Mott and Medicine Head. The bandâs first single, "One More Chance To Run", was issued in 1977 and established their presence on the British hardârock scene. In February 1978, they released their debut studio album British Lions under Vertigo Records; the album was later reissued in 2023 by Think Like A Key Music. Their second studio effort, Trouble With Women, followed on 6 June 1980 through Cherry Red after initial rejection by RSO and Vertigo, featuring the single "International Heroes"/"Eat The Rich". British Lions toured extensively across Britain supporting acts such as Status Quo-whose management they shared-and AC/DC, while achieving greater commercial traction in the United States where "Wild in the Streets" peaked at Number 87 on the US Hot 100. The group disbanded in 1979, after which their catalog was acquired by Cherry Red, who released the album the following year. In 1999, a live compilation Live And Rare was issued, and a 2010 release Live at the Old Waldorf: San Francisco 1978 documented their final performances.
