Blarf is the experimental music project of Eric Samuel André, born April 4, 1983, in Boca Raton, Florida. Before becoming known as a comedian, actor and television creator, André studied at Berklee College of Music in Boston, where he specialized in upright bass and first formed Blarf as a short-lived band shaped by absurdist, confrontational ideas influenced by Frank Zappa and Beastie Boys. The name resurfaced in 2014 with BLARF, a four-track EP made with Canadian producer The First Seed, featuring “iSteal,” “Who I Am,” “Wickedpedia” and “Beef Patty.” André revived Blarf in 2019 as a solo alias through Stones Throw Records, initially playing along with the mystery around whether Blarf and Eric André were the same person. The project’s debut album, Cease & Desist, arrived that year with sample-heavy, deliberately abrasive tracks such as “Badass Bullshit Benjamin Buttons Butthole Assassin,” “Save It Babe,” “Banana,” “I Worship Satan” and “Boom Ba.” Blarf also performed live in Los Angeles in 2019 with Thundercat, DOMi and JD Beck. In 2026, André returned to the project with Film Scores for Films That Don’t Exist, released through Stones Throw on May 1. Previewed by “What’s For Dinner,” the album moves away from the plunderphonic chaos of Cease & Desist toward orchestral composition, with recordings involving full orchestras in Budapest and Los Angeles.
