Biography

Akira The Don (real name Adam Jan Narkiewicz) emerged in the early 2000s as a rapper with the underground hip-hop collective Crack village, which he later left to pursue a career in music production. His debut EP, Akira The Don's First Ep, released in 2004, marked his entry into the scene, followed by the single "O! (What A Glorious Thing)" in 2006. In 2006 he also released When We Were Young, his first full‑length album, and continued to build momentum with Hypocrite (2007) and Living In The Future (2011). The artist expanded his catalog with holiday releases such as Saturnalia Superman: Akira The Don Salutes The Majesty Of Christmas (2011) and Saturnalia Superman: Christmas Instrumentals (2012), and later produced The Weed Song (2010) and One More Pope To Go (2013). After issuing the mixtape A.T.D.R.I.P. and playing a final London show as a traditional rapper in 2014, Akira The Don relocated to Los Angeles, formed the party-rap/DJ project MIDNITEMEN, and became a regular DJ in Hollywood clubs, later producing an official cover of Adamski’s “Killer” and a widely shared remix of the Stranger Things theme. From 2017 onward he pivoted into his self-defined “Meaningwave” universe, a fusion of lo-fi hip-hop and EDM with spoken-word samples from thinkers such as Jordan Peterson, Alan Watts, Terence McKenna, Elon Musk and David Foster Wallace, crystallised on 2018 albums like 12 Rules For Life: The Album, Timewave, IV: DREAMS and JBPWAVE: Genesis. Through 2019–2023 he expanded Meaningwave with projects such as GOGGINS, HOW TO GET RICH VOL. 1–3, MYTHOS, TRUTH & DRAGONS, THE WAR ON CONSCIOUSNESS, and recurring compilations MEANINGWAVE MASTERPIECES I–IV, while moving from Los Angeles to Texas and then settling in Mexico. In 2024–2025 he continued releasing dense thematic series including MEDITATIONS VOL. II, Earl Nightingale-focused albums like THE STRANGEST SECRET IN THE WORLD, the Jocko Willink collaboration WARPATH, and a new wave of Meaningwave titles culminating in the anthology MEANINGWAVE MASTERPIECES VI.
