Biography

BlackGirl, an American soul musical group consisting of Pam Copeland, Nycolia "Tye-V" Turman, and Rochelle Stuart from Atlanta, formed in 1992. The trio signed to the Kaper/RCA/BMG label and released their debut single "Krazy" in 1993, which marked the beginning of a series of successful releases on the Billboard R&B chart. Their debut album Treat U Right followed in 1994, featuring four consecutive top forty singles: "Krazy", "90's Girl", "Where Did We Go Wrong", and "Let's Do It Again". By late 1994, BlackGirl had achieved significant milestones, including appearances on Soul Train and in a Chrysler commercial, and the release of the holiday single "Give Love On Christmas Day"/"Christmas Time". They also collaborated on the single "Freedom" from the film Panther, which peaked at Number 18 on the Billboard R&B chart. In 1995, BlackGirl earned two Soul Train Award nominations for Single of the Year and Album of the Year. The group disbanded in 1996, but reunited in late 2016 with an updated version of their hit "Where Did We Go Wrong".
