Biography

Born in Harlem, New York, on October 29, 1965, Tyler Collins is an American R&B singer, active mainly in the late 1980s and early 1990s. She made her name with her album Girls Nite Out (1989), whose title track became a hit, peaking at #6 on the Billboard R&B chart and the Billboard Hot 100. The album included the other hits "Whatcha Gonna Do" (#8 R&B) and "Second Chance" (#30 R&B, #53 Hot 100), followed by the album Tyler (1992), including the singles "It Doesn't Matter" (#93 R&B, #88 Hot 100) and "Just Make Me the One" (#52 R&B). She also worked as an actress and songwriter, performing the song "Thanks to You" on the soundtrack to the film Andre (#96 R&B, #79 Hot 100). 1995's "Never Alone (Eeyore's Lullaby)", featured on the compilation Take My Hand: Songs from the 100 Acre Wood, reached #48 on the Billboard Hot 100. Her style blends contemporary R&B, dance pop and new jack swing.
