Biography

Blackbeard's Tea Party, a British folk rock band based in York, England, formed in July 2009. The group initially consisted of Paul Young, Laura Barber, Tim Yates, Martin Coumbe, and Liam 'Yom' Hardy. Their early breakthrough came with the release of their debut EP Heavens to Betsy in November 2009, which included tracks like "High Barbary" that received airplay on BBC Radio 2. The band's first full-length album, Tomorrow We'll Be Sober, was released in October 2011 and featured positive reviews from folk magazines. In 2013, they released their second album, Whip Jamboree. Throughout their career, Blackbeard's Tea Party has performed at major festivals including Glastonbury Festival and Fairport's Cropredy Convention. Their most recent album, Kick The Curb, was released in September 2022 following a period of virtual collaboration during the COVID-19 pandemic.
