Biography

An April March was a Canadian alternative rock band formed in Kitchener, Ontario, in 1989 and initially consisted of singer/guitarist Danella Hocevar and guitarist Chris Perry. They began their music career under the name The Whittingtons, self-releasing a demo cassette before changing their name to An April March. Their earliest releases included the EPs Memory Gardens (1990) and Scarlett Bliss (1991). In 1993, they signed with Bedazzled Records and released their first full-length album, Impatiens (1993), followed by Lessons in Vengeance (1995) and It Goes Without Saying (1997). Their final EP, Something Once True is Always True..., was released in 1999. An April March disbanded on April 29, 1999, but their impact was recognized years later when "Memory" appeared on Still in a Dream: A Story of Shoegaze 1988-1995 (2016) and "All the Flowery" on Cherry Stars Collide - Dream Pop, Shoegaze and Ethereal Rock 1986–1995 (2022).
