La Mano Ajena is a Chilean band founded in 2002. The band blends rhythms from Eastern Europe, Latin America, France, and Russia with rock, punk, Latin American folklore, and theater music. Their unique sound, described as "klezmer a la chilena," incorporates influences from jazz manouche, klezmer, Balkan, and Gypsy music, later adding Latin rhythms like cumbia, mambo, cha-cha-cha, tango, and rumba. The band released their debut album La Mano Ajena in 2005 and gained international recognition when they became the first Latin American act to participate in the Küstendorf Film and Music Festival in Serbia in January 2009. They have performed alongside notable acts such as Gogol Bordello and Emir Kusturica & The No Smoking Orchestra, and their versatility has extended to creating original music for television shows and charity concerts.
