Eugene P. Pittman, known professionally as Gene "Birdlegg" Pittman, was born on May 10, 1947, in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, and is an American blues harmonist, singer, and songwriter. Inspired by Sonny Boy Williamson II and Sonny Terry, Pittman began playing the harmonica in 1974 and turned professional three years later. He relocated to Oakland, California, where he met several notable blues musicians, including Cool Papa Sadler and Lowell Fulson. In 1980, Pittman formed the Tight Fit Blues Band, his first outfit as a frontman. His debut album, Meet Me On The Corner, was released in 2007. In 2004, he was named Blues Harmonica Player of the Year by the Bay Area Blues Society. After moving to Austin, Texas, Pittman released his latest studio album, Birdlegg (2013). He has toured extensively across the United States and Europe.
