Gustavo Roy Diaz, known professionally as Big Boy, was born on 11 March 1975 in Puerto Rico and is a Puerto Rican reggaeton and Latin urban artist. He began rapping early and is regarded as one of the pioneers of Latin reggaeton and urban music. In 1993, under Musical Productions, he released his debut album Mr. Big, featuring the single âMariaâ. The following years saw the launch of Que Vayas Con Dios (1994) and Mis Ojos Lloran por Ti (1996), the latter producing the widely recognized track âMis Ojos Lloran por Tiâ, which reached the top 20 on the Billboard Latin chart. In 1999 he signed with Sony/Musical Productions to issue Big Impact, which included collaborations such as with MC Ceja. 2000âs Virus continued this trend, featuring artists including Nicky Jam. 2002âs The Phenomenon introduced hits such as âAmiga Venâ and âLa Culpableâ. After a brief stint with Universal Music and the 2005 release of El Comeback, Big Boy returned to Musical Productions for Reggaeton Reloaded Version 2.5 (2006). He took a hiatus before resurfacing in 2013 with the collaboration âDonde Estan Toas Las Yalesâ with Jamsha. Big Boy remained active with later releases and collaborations, and his work has been influential in the development of Latin urban music.
