Biography

Elizabeth Taylor Pecanins, known professionally as Betsy Pecanins, was an American-born Mexican singer, songwriter, and record producer born in 1954. Known as the “Queen of the Blues” in Mexico, Pecanins focused her career on the blues, ranchera, and jazz genres. Her first album, Seeing Your Eyes, was recorded in 1980. Her music was featured in several films, and she performed the soundtrack for The Queen of the Night (1994). Other films featuring her work included Until Death, Two Crimes, Cilantro and Parsley, and Serious Killer. In 2015, Pecanins received a tribute to her artistic career at the Esperanza Iris City Theater in Mexico City. She died in 2016.
