Bella Morte, a gothic rock band formed in 1996 in Charlottesville, Virginia, U.S., incorporates elements of metal, dark wave, deathrock, alternative, and synthpop. The band's name means "Beautiful Death" in Italian, reflecting the theme of finding beauty in tragedy. Bella Morte began their music career with self-released albums through their own label, Some Wear Leather, and Cleopatra Records before signing with Metropolis Records in 2002. Their breakthrough came with the release of The Quiet (2002) and As The Reasons Die (2004).
