Biography

Formed from a split from Sisters of Mercy, The Mission quickly became a force for energetic gothic rock. Success soon followed for the band led by Wayne Hussey (vocals), with God's Own Medicine in 1986 capitalizing on the buzz surrounding The Mission. Children (1988) and Carved in Sand (1990) complete The Mission's golden trilogy. Calibrated for the American market, 1991's bloated Masque led to The Mission's rapid decline. Split up in 1996, The Mission returned in 1998 and released Aura in 2001. This artistic renaissance continued nine years later with the convincing and belated Dum-Dum Bullets.
