Bedouin Soundclash, a Canadian band based in Toronto, was formed in 2001 by vocalist and guitarist Jay Malinowski, bass player Eon Sinclair, and various session musicians. The band's sound blends reggae and ska influences. Their debut album Root Fire was released in 2001, followed by Sounding a Mosaic in 2004. During the recording of Sounding a Mosaic, Bedouin Soundclash formed a close bond with producer Darryl Jenifer of Bad Brains. The single "When the Night Feels My Song" from this album became their breakthrough hit on Canadian radio, charting at Number 1 on 102.1 The Edge CFNY and gaining widespread airplay across Canada in the summer of 2005. It was also featured in various commercials and media outlets, including a T-Mobile ad in the UK and the ski film Anomaly. In 2006, Bedouin Soundclash appeared on the Vans Warped Tour and embarked on extensive tours across Canada and the UK, performing with notable artists such as Ben Harper. They won the Juno Award for New Group of the Year in 2006. Their subsequent album Street Gospels was released in 2007, featuring the single "St. Andrews", which topped major market rock station Edge 102's Top 30 Countdown. In 2009, they signed with Dine Alone Records and released the EP Where Have All The Songs Played Gone To? Bedouin Soundclash has since released six studio albums, including We Will Meet in a Hurricane in 2022.
