Biography
American siblings BeBe Winans and CeCe Winans entered the gospel and contemporary R&B scene as part of the extensive Winans family. Their first public appearance was in 1982 as members of The PTL Singers on the Christian television show The PTL Club, where they recorded the duo debut Lord Lift Us Up for PTL Records. After leaving the group in 1987, they signed with Sparrow Records and released the self‑titled BeBe & CeCe Winans in 1987, producing the R&B hit "I.O.U. Me" that topped gospel charts and earned Grammy nominations. The 1988 album Heaven yielded the singles "Heaven" and "Celebrate New Life", the latter featuring Whitney Houston, and the title track reached number 12 on the Billboard R&B singles chart while the album achieved Gold status. In 1991, Different Lifestyles produced the chart‑topping singles "Addictive Love" and "I'll Take You There" featuring Mavis Staples. Subsequent releases included First Christmas (1993), Relationships (1994), and the 2009 comeback album Still, whose lead single "Close to You" reached Number 1 on Gospel charts. The duo earned three Grammy Awards (1991, 2010, 2010), nine Dove Awards, and multiple other honors, and were inducted into the Black Music & Entertainment Walk of Fame in 2022.
