Viviane Bowman, known professionally as Vickie Winans, was born on October 18, 1953, in Detroit, Michigan. She started her musical career at a young age, joining the choir at International Gospel Center and forming a gospel group during her teenage years. Winans released her debut album, Be Encouraged, in 1985, which peaked at number 3 on Billboard's Top Spiritual Albums chart and was nominated for a Grammy Award. Her breakthrough came with the live album Live in Detroit in 1997, featuring the hit single "Long as I Got King Jesus". Winans continued her success with albums like Bringing It All Together ( 2003) and Woman to Woman: Songs of Life (2006). She formed Destiny Joy Records in 2005. Throughout her career, Winans earned eight Stellar Awards and seven Grammy nominations.
