Building up her confidence on the Taichung City busking circuit in her youth, Taiwanese singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Arrow Wei (born May 14th, 1990) earned her stripes as a live performer years before her music first hit streaming services. Doubling up as the lead singer for the band Arrow, she made strides as a soloist in 2017, emerging on the Mandarin-language folk-rock scene with her debut single âLost Sunâ and an album of the same name. One of the songs from the LP to get video treatment, "I Love You, Do You Love Me?â, proved to be a huge success, amassing over two and a half million YouTube views. Showcasing the album on tour and continuing to build her fanbase with a string of covers including renditions of A-Linâs âA Kind of Sorrowâ and Joyce Chuâs âI Miss Youâ, she made powerful allies in national superstars Sodagreen and Mayday, whose endorsements went a long way to bolstering her name recognition. Weiâs second album, Light in the Night Sky, landed in 2019, with âI Still Donât Understandâ serving as one of her biggest hits to date. Maintaining a prolific release cycle, she has since returned with a string of singles including the December 2020 number âGirl Told Meâ, with her name gradually becoming synonymous with her countryâs burgeoning alternative music scene.
