Biography

Born in Taipei in 1982, Taiwanese singer-songwriter Wu Tsing-fong (also known as Wu Qing-feng) jumped into the spotlight in the early aughts as the lead vocalist of the indie pop group Sodagreen. As a child, he taught himself music theory driven by his love of classical music composers such as Claude Debussy or Erik Satie and later became infatuated with the eclecticism of Western artists like Jeff Buckley, Tori Amos, and Radiohead. Formed in 2003, his band Sodagreen quickly turned into one of the most popular indie acts in the country, becoming the first independent group to play at the Taipei Arena. After Sodagreen went on hiatus in 2017, Wu Tsing-fong made his solo debut with the EP Everybody Woohoo (2018), followed by his first full-length Spaceman in 2019. Released three years after its predecessor, a second LP titled Mallarme's Tuesday was released in September 2022. "Brown Haired Girl," one of the singles from the album featuring Japanese guitarist Lisa Ono, reached Number 21 on the Top 50 of Hong Kong's Mandarin Singles chart.
